How our agility program works
1. Get Started
Sign-up for our foundational handling course, Agility: Level 1, to establish fundamental handling skills that you’ll continue to build on.
2. Core Concepts
Our core classes focus on specific skills. Rather than “good enough”, we’ll make sure you feel competent in each concept before adding additional learning.
3. Piecin' Em Together
After becoming proficient in core concepts, you’ll learn how to seamlessly pull the puzzle together for beautiful agility work. Before you know it, you’ll be competition ready.
Ready to get moving?
Agility: Level 1
Foundation Handling Course
Learn basic handling skills necessary for agility work. In this 6-week class, you’ll learn how to perform handling maneuvers needed to get your dog around an agility course.
Skills we’ll work on:
- Introduction to offering behaviours and learning procedures
- Introduction to basic agility handling
- Introduction to performing more than one behaviour in a row
- Introduction to distractions during work
Dog’s Age: 6 months+
Prerequisites:
- Performance Fundamentals or other group class experience is strongly recommended
- Dogs must be able to work around dogs and people, this includes being quiet without excessive barking and lunging at dogs and/or people. If your dog falls into this category, we’ll be happy to assist with private training. There may be some off leash work in this class, so please be prepared.
- Sit stay of 10 ft
Needed for Class: A bed/cot/crate, chew items or food puzzles to help them settle, leash, and lots of soft, tasty treats and toys (if your dog is motivated by toys)

Core Concepts
Agility: Level 2
Jumping Skills
Suitable for dogs over 8 months, this 6-week class dives deep into jumping skills and the footwork required for multiple jumps.
Skills we’ll work on:
- Introduce the Jump obstacle
- Develop the footwork for navigating multiple jumps
- Develop understanding of following a line of jumps with the handler
- Build understanding of working around distractions
Dog’s Age: 8 months+
Prerequisites:
- Agility: Level 1
- Dogs must be able to work around dogs and people. There will be off leash work involved in this class. While there is barriers between working stations, dogs who charge fences or excessively bark are better suited for private training.
- Sit stay of 25 ft
- Can be taken concurrently with Agility: Level 3

Agility: Level 3
Intro to weave pole obstacles
Suitable for dogs over 12 months, this 6-week class focuses on teaching your dog how to weave! Using a 2 by 2 method, we’ll work towards 6 poles by the end of class.
Skills we’ll work on:
- Building shaping skills
- Introduce weave pole obstacle working towards 6 poles
- Introduce distractions
- Proof handler movement and handling
Dog’s Age: 1 year+
Prerequisites:
- Agility: Levels 1 & 2
- Dogs must be able to work around dogs and people this includes excessive barking and lunging at dogs and/or people. If your dog falls into this category, we’ll be happy to assist with private training.
- Sit stay of 25 ft
Needed for Class: A bed/cot/crate, chew items or food puzzles to help them settle, leash, and lots of soft, tasty treats and toys (if your dog is motivated by toys).
2×2 weave poles are available to rent during the course for homework purposes.

Agility: Level 4
Intro to contact behaviours
Suitable for dogs 8 months and older, we’ll introduce foundational skills for the dog walk, A-Frame, and Teeter! The best part? You can take this concurrently with other classes!
Skills we’ll work on:
- Introduce stopped and running contact behaviour sequences away from equipment
- Build confidence with height and moving surfaces
- Introduce movement and handling distractions to stopped and contact behaviours
Dog’s Age: 1 year+
Prerequisites:
- Agility: Levels 1, 2 & 3
- Dogs must be able to work around dogs and people, this includes excessive barking and lunging at dogs and/or people. If your dog falls into this category, we’ll be happy to assist with private training
- Sit stay of 25 ft
Needed for Class:
- A bed/cot/crate, chew items or food puzzles to help them settle, leash, and lots of soft, tasty treats and toys (if your dog is motivated by toys)
- Raised Plank/Board (at least 12×24) for use at home

Advanced Classes
Piecin’ Em Together: Level 1
Developing agility sequences
In this 6-week class, we’ll bring everything you’ve learned in core classes together to form beautiful agility sequences, forming the basis for a competition-ready dog.
Skills we’ll work on:
- Adding speed and handling to jump skills
- Increasing number of obstacles
- Adding handling and speed challenges to various contact and weave pole obstacles
- Learning to read a course map and planning handling options
Prerequisites:
- Agility: Levels 1-4
- Dogs must be able to work around dogs and people, this includes being quiet without excessive barking and lunging at dogs and/or people. If your dog falls into this category, we’ll be happy to assist with private training.
Needed for Class: A bed/cot/crate, chew items or food puzzles to help them settle, leash, and lots of soft, tasty treats and toys (if your dog is motivated by toys)

Piecin’ Em Together: Level 2
Course work & ring prep
After completing all of our courses, you’ll be ready for course work and ring prep! We’ll help you reduce reinforcers and work on off-body reinforcement in preparation for competition.
Skills we’ll work on:
- Introducing rewards off body
- Longer sequences including full courses
- Learning competition rules of each agility game
- Ring entry and exit procedures
Prerequisites:
- Piecin’ Em Together: Level 1
- Dogs must be able to work around dogs and people, this includes being quiet without excessive barking and lunging at dogs and/or people. If your dog falls into this category, we’ll be happy to assist with private training.
